Corporate Internship Program (Students & Graduates)

ABSTRACT
Organizations are constantly challenged to attract individuals who will add value to the business and contribute to organizational success. Finding talented people who will fit in with the organizations culture, vision and strategic goals is not always easy. This challenge is particularly real in Ghana where there is acute shortage of skilled people. In an effort to attract and retain high caliber staff, some organizations substitute regular employment with our Corporate Internship Program.
For most graduates and students, an internship program is their first formal introduction to the world of work, and as such, may impact significantly on shaping their careers in both the organizational entry and establishment phases of their career cycle. In line with our initiative an internship program may facilitate this in the following ways: dealing with the reality shock of the world of work and organizational membership, becoming an effective member of the organization as quickly as possible and adjusting to the daily work demands. The Corporate Internship Program serves a corporate and academic function as they expose interns to real life problems and information that is simply not available in a classroom setting.



OUR APPROACH
More companies than ever before, will enjoy the benefits of our internship program. Some of these companies will offer paid programs while others stick with the seemingly traditional, unpaid internships. Givenet has about 500+ database of applications of unemployed graduates in various academic fields on our online platform. We collaborate with various corporate organizations to place this applicants with their respective fields to learn and gain career experience as they work on securing full-time jobs. Our internship program can be substituted for a regular employment process since it give employers the liberty to access employees for a particular duration before deciding on their employment  status.   

AIM OF THE INTERNSHIP
Our Internship Program seeks to achieve the following objectives:
An experience that develops and leverages the academic knowledge and professional skills of the intern to complement his/her education.
A positive learning experience with a corporate organization.
Awareness and knowledge of corporate issues and practices in various organization in Ghana.

INTERN SELECTION
Based upon request, Givenet shall provide the partner organization with a selected number of registered graduate intern who have currently completed their tertiary education and national service in Ghana. Selection of candidates for the Graduate Internship Program shall be based on the requirements of the employer. No specific preference like gender, religion, nationality or any form of it sort shall be considered during the selection process by Givenet. 


The Internship is:
Intended to be a permanent career placement or recruitment opportunity. We are hopeful employers may decides to employ the intern on a permanent basis in the organization but such decision will sole reside upon the internal policies of the organization. Givenet will have no role in facilitating or intermediate the process.
Not a vehicle for any candidate to personally seek permanent employment, contracts or hiring by the employing organization.

INTERNSHIP PLACE
So far our interns work with organizations in Accra or other cities where the employing companies have operations. Organizations and the employers provides all materials and necessary resources for the correct and effective development of the internship.

INTERNSHIP PERIOD
The Internship program has a minimum duration of 8 weeks and maximum 6 months with an employing organization. The internship duration is usually extended to an extra 3 months base upon approval by the employer. 

ALLOWANCES/SCHOLARSHIP/STIPEND
The employer is not obliged to pay the intern a monthly salary but can decide to give the intern a stipend or allowance at the end of the month including transportation.

GIVENET DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
To ensure placement of the intern in reputable organizations within the stated period of time.
To ensure an adequate communication with the intern before and after the whole internship period.
To ensure adequate conditions for the intern to develop skills during the internship.
To ensure an adequate communication with Givenet representatives.
To specify clearly all the relevant details provided by the employer.

CONCLUSION
Givenet will be very flexible to the employer and the interns to be able to achieve mutually desired results to the objective of the Graduate Internship Program. We believe our intervention and approach will be help curb the problem of national unemployment, graduate unpreparedness for the job-market, low level of productivity within organizations, promote a competitive working environment, readily available staff and many more other concerns of various corporate organizations and institutions.
